Hello everyone. I am Dr. Jensen Moore-Copple, the instructor for MC 7042 – Foundations of Strategic Communication. A little bit about me…. I received three Bachelor’s degrees from Black Hills State University (S.D.) in Business Administration, Marketing (minor in Psychology), and Mass Communication (dual emphases in Public Relations and Journalism). I worked for several seasons in minor league sports (Grand Rapids Hoops Basketball and St. Paul Saints Baseball) as a media relations director, public relations director, community relations director and advertising executive. During this time I found that my favorite “task” was working with the interns — teaching them how to write news releases; how to set up events, how to prep athletes for interviews, etc. So, I decided to go back to school to earn my graduate degree. I got my Master’s at the University of Minnesota School of Journalism and Mass Communication and my Doctorate at the University of Missouri School of Journalism.
I have taught mostly theory, methods and writing courses for Missouri, Wayne State, West Virginia University and now at LSU (geaux Tigers!). I am interested in social and digital media, health communication and media effects. I use mostly quantitative methods — even though I am not a “math” person:)
I have to say that I LOVE MY JOB! I love the worlds of advertising, PR and strategic communication and can think of no better way of spending my days than discussing them with you all. I look forward to learning from you all this semester.
Let the groundswell begin!
